Bermagui features a fantastic ‘must see’ local attraction located off Pacific Drive.
At the base of a dramatic cliff face lies a beautiful natural rock pool, washed clean with ocean water and a perfect spot for relaxed swimming and snorkelling spot protected from the rolling waves.
The natural salt water pool is definitely a hidden treasure in Bermagui. The floor of the baths are sand and rock and sometimes small fish make it into the pool through waves and make for a great delight for snorkelling children.
You can take a nice walk around the coastline, so there’s plenty to do even in the colder winter months where braving the waters may be a little much. Obviously the warmer months of the year are just perfect for enjoying the cool waters.
In 2010 the site got a large upgrade, including a public toilet, shower and change room facility as well as the actual steps down to the pool.
Make sure you read the historical board above the steps down to the pool, cool facts about how long the pool has been there and how they used dynamite to make it bigger.
There’s also a fantastic viewing platform which was constructed to provide breathtaking views out over the Pacific Ocean.
Bring a hamper of food and make a picnic of it, there’s nothing better than a day at the Blue Pool just soaking up the sun and swimming to your hearts content.
The Blue Pool was also awarded a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor in 2015.
