One of the best ways to explore South Australia is on two wheels, wind rushing through your hair under the bright blue sky. There’s lots of things to see on a ride. Better yet, you get to experience it all at your own pace.
There are also some great cycle tours to take. Even if you don’t ride often you can take a tour through some gentle and beautiful areas.
Ride through the picturesque landscape of sculptured esplanades, rolling hills, charming villages, spectacular coastal views and breathe deeply of that crisp and fresh coastal air.
You have lots of options on a ride through South Australia, let your interests guide you. There’s fantastic cellar doors to visit, you could plan a trip to see some of the local produce being made or you could stop by all the local art galleries. You could take a coastal route atop dramatic cliffs, or plan a gentle ride through the laid back hinterland.
Make sure you plan to stop off for a casual meal at one of the fantastic hip café’s where the coffee is sublime, or plan to end your trip at one of the fine dining establishments scattered throughout the region.
For Family Groups, Tathra Beach Country Club. There’s a great 2.5km concrete bike path right there and bike hire available too. This track will take you to the beautiful Bega River inlet which is perfect for a swim once you’re there.
For mountain bikers, the region’s great network of forests offer some awesome mountain biking trails. Try the Bundadung Trail network, roughly 70 kilometres of expertly crafted single tracks. Do one stretch and come back the next day to try another. In the same area, there’s the Fords Farm headland ride, a 10km trail (not single tracks) that loops across the Bega River and through some lush countryside.
Cycling on the Far South Coast is one of the best ways to explore this beautiful scenery and get in touch with the country and seaside charm.
